Expectation~

We are living in a life of expectations, we expect things to happen. We expect more from what we desire. We expect people to be filling our expectations. But we always will find out is not good enough; it does not always turn out the way we expected. People would think a Christian should be doing such and such…. In Mark 10:17 it talked about the story of a rich man~ He came running up to Jesus and asked, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus reply, “You know the commandments: ‘You must not testify falsely. You must not cheat anyone. Honor your father and mother.” The man replied, “I’ve obeyed all these commandments since I was young.” Jesus looks at him and said, “There is still one thing you haven’t done…Go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor and you will have treasure in Heaven. Then come, and follow me!” The man went away with great sadness, for he had many possessions. If we look at the rich man, he expected Jesus would really give him an “Answer, A way” to Heaven, he expected to do something to inherit eternal life. Jesus did give him the answer, but why would the rich man still walk away with sadness…?

If we look at the world now, people go out the the society, and expect people to teal me good… people expect there is always food, and the meal ready for them everyday… people expect to have great marriage but all they doing is expecting from their partner to change*, to control*, to fill what they WANT… No~ this is not working, YOU WILL BE ALWAYS DISAPPOINTED if you put such expectations. Some people even expect from God…*well, here I’m not saying we shouldn’t expect from God, we pray for healing of sickness, breakthrough…all the time we NEED!* In the book of Purpose Drive Life by Rick Warren, it talk about how many people try to use God for their own self-actualization, but that is a reversal of nature and is doomed to failure. You are made for God, not vice versa, and life is about letting God use you for his purpose, not you’re using him for your own purpose. The true is, “If you put in wrong expectation, you will turn out with disappointed because it is not what YOU want” As a Christian, I believe God had a Higher expectation for us, the expectation would bring us to know Him better, fill as the Kingdom Purpose. The rich man was disappointed because he was looking at the early things “external values” But Jesus’ reply was eternal. And there is NOT a thing you can do to enter the Gate of Heaven, but it is not in your hands, it is in His hands. There is not a thing you can do to inherit eternal life, you just have to receive, like a Child. The Father will give it to you, for you are His children… the beloved one.
